Chief Executive Officer
John Tober is the co-founder and CEO of CertaTech and heads CertaTech’s global business services. Mr. Tober was a corporate and litigation partner for eleven years with the New York law firm of Boies, Schiller & Flexner, LLP and the Managing Partner of a significant regional law firm located in Miami, Florida. Mr. Tober has been a member of vendor committees and has developed many discovery best practices. Mr. Tober has represented many Fortune 100 companies, CEOs and boards of directors with 30 years of experience serving as a litigator and lead transactional counsel on various business transactions including financings, work outs, offerings and M&A. Mr. Tober has founded and lead successful technology based companies and IT consulting firms.
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Tober was an accountant and IT management consultant with Coopers & Lybrand, now PricewaterhouseCoopers after which he co-founded his own IT Consulting Firm which became a leader in data base and complex accounting and financial analysis software development in addition to large data base collections and migrations. Mr. Tober currently serves on several boards of directors in various industries including serving as an independent director and audit committee chairman.
President and Chief Operating Officer
Rick Avers is the co-founder and President of CertaTech and heads CertaTech’s global headquarters in Chicago and is responsible for the global business department. Mr. Avers has over 29 years of experience managing large scale, multi-location litigation support firms. Over the past 10 years, Mr. Avers has organized programs alongside trial and general counsel in 54 different U.S. cities and numerous countries around the world including China, Korea, Bermuda, Great Britain, Germany, Australia and the Caribbean. Additionally, he has supported a variety of companies across a wide range of business sectors including governmental, legal, financial, high technology, and the oil and gas industries. Prior to joining CeraTech, Mr, Avers was a key member in developing Trustpoint International, Onsite3, Merrill Corporation, Ikon and Pitney Bowes Management Services. Mr. Avers’ successful involvement in architecting solutions and leading various technical staff through large multi-national discovery matters brings CertaTech a broad experience in developing state-of-the-art eDiscovery platforms and subscription based modeling. Mr. Avers has over 29 years in legal support including complex discovery serving governmental, legal, financial services, high technology, and oil and gas industries.
